IT Services & Hardware FAQ

Managed IT support, computer and hardware maintenance, networks, servers, procurement and IT staffing across Rwanda.

What IT services does EGreed Technology provide?

Managed IT support, computer and hardware maintenance, network design and cabling, servers and virtualisation, cloud and SaaS, business email, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, CCTV and access control, software development, IT procurement, and IT staffing and training.

Does EGreed repair computers and laptops?

Yes. The EGreed Kigali workshop performs component-level repair — screens, hinges, keyboards, batteries, charging ports, RAM and SSD upgrades, motherboard diagnostics and data recovery — usually within 48 hours when parts are in stock.

Do you offer computer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Essential, Business and Enterprise preventive maintenance plans cover desktops, laptops, servers, printers, network hardware and UPS units, with quarterly to monthly on-site servicing and a live asset register.

What is included in a preventive maintenance visit?

Dust and thermal servicing, battery and power testing, SMART disk health checks, OS and firmware patching, endpoint-protection and encryption verification, backup verification, printer and network checks, UPS load testing, and a written condition report per device.

How fast does EGreed respond to IT issues?

P1 incidents get a 15-minute response and a 4-hour resolution target; Enterprise contracts include a 4-hour on-site SLA in Kigali and next-business-day coverage from EGreed's three Rwandan branches.

How much does managed IT support cost in Rwanda?

Managed IT support starts from about 12,000 RWF per user per month for small teams, with volume pricing for larger estates. Project work is quoted fixed-price after a free site survey.

Can EGreed act as our entire IT department?

Yes. Many clients outsource their whole IT function — helpdesk, infrastructure, security and procurement — to EGreed under one contract with reported service levels.

Does EGreed manage IT assets and warranties?

Yes. Every managed device is tracked with serial number, warranty expiry, assigned user, location, service history and a replacement forecast, so budgets are planned before failures happen.

Do you install networks, CCTV and access control?

Yes. EGreed designs and installs structured cabling, switching, Wi-Fi, VPN and SD-WAN, plus CCTV, biometric access control and IoT sensor deployments.

What happens to retired computers?

EGreed securely wipes the storage, issues a certificate of data destruction, and offers trade-in credit or responsible recycling.

How often should office computers be serviced in Rwanda?

Field-used laptops quarterly, office desktops every six months, and on-premise servers monthly remotely with a quarterly on-site visit. Dust and power instability make longer intervals expensive.

Does EGreed repair devices it did not supply?

Yes. EGreed maintains and repairs any brand of computer, server, printer, UPS, switch or POS terminal regardless of where it was purchased.

Will I lose my data during a repair?

No. Every repair begins with a verified backup or a full disk image, and data integrity is checked before the device is returned with a signed service report.

How fast can an engineer reach my office?

Four hours inside Kigali for P1 and P2 incidents, and next business day in districts served by the Musanze, Rubavu and Huye branches.

Do you provide loaner devices?

Yes — Business and Enterprise maintenance plans include same-day loaner laptops and desktops so staff keep working while a repair is completed.

What does a maintenance contract cost?

Pricing is per device per month and scales with device count, sites and SLA. Request a quote through the form on this page for a fixed figure in RWF.

How long does it take to build an asset register?

A 100-device environment is typically discovered, physically verified and live within two weeks. Multi-site estates of 1,000+ devices take four to six weeks.

Do I need to buy asset management software?

No. EGreed provides the platform as part of the service, including agents, dashboards and monthly exports you own.

Can EGreed manage assets we bought elsewhere?

Yes. The register is vendor-neutral and covers any brand, including equipment purchased before EGreed was engaged.

What happens to old computers?

They are data-wiped to NIST 800-88 standard with a destruction certificate per serial, then refurbished for reuse or handed to a licensed Rwandan e-waste recycler.

How does asset management reduce cost?

By reclaiming unused licences, extending device life through condition-based refresh, capturing warranty claims before expiry and removing ghost assets from insurance and depreciation.

Does the register integrate with our finance system?

Yes. EGreed exports to CSV and can integrate with ERP and accounting systems through API so depreciation and asset counts reconcile automatically.

How quickly do you respond to a critical alert?

Fifteen minutes on the Assure tier and one hour on Respond, measured from alert generation to engineer acknowledgement.

Can you monitor systems hosted outside EGreed?

Yes. The NOC monitors on-premise servers, other clouds and SaaS endpoints alongside EGreed Cloud workloads.

How do you avoid alert fatigue?

Thresholds are tuned against two weeks of baseline data before go-live, alerts are deduplicated and correlated, and a monthly review permanently fixes the top recurring alerts.

Do you fix problems or only report them?

The Respond and Assure tiers include remediation under agreed runbooks — restarts, failovers, capacity extensions and vendor escalation — not just notification.

What reporting do we receive?

A monthly report with uptime against SLA, incident log, MTTD and MTTR trends, capacity forecast and the permanent fixes proposed for recurring alerts.

Do you do structured cabling as well as configuration?

Yes. EGreed installs and certifies Cat6, Cat6a and fibre cabling, patch panels and racks, then designs and configures the active network on top.

Can you connect our branches together?

Yes. EGreed builds multi-branch WAN and SD-WAN with dual-carrier failover, encrypted tunnels and local internet break-out, monitored 24/7 from the Kigali NOC.

Why does network segmentation matter?

Segmentation stops one compromised laptop or camera from reaching servers and payment terminals. It is the single highest-value control most Rwandan networks are missing.

Will our Wi-Fi handle a full office?

EGreed designs from floor plans, validates with a physical survey, tunes band steering and minimum data rates, and hands over a signed post-installation heat map.

Who deals with the internet provider when the line is down?

EGreed does. The NOC detects the fault, confirms it is upstream, opens and chases the carrier ticket, and keeps you informed until service is restored.

Do we get the network documentation?

Yes — diagrams, IP plan, VLAN map, port maps, firewall rule base and failover runbook are handed over in editable form and kept current after every change.

Do we need to rewrite our applications?

Usually not. Most workloads rehost or replatform unchanged. Refactoring is recommended only where the application is genuinely constraining growth or cost.

How quickly are critical vulnerabilities patched?

Actively exploited criticals are assessed within four hours and deployed within 72 hours under an emergency change, with a snapshot taken before the window.

Which operating systems and platforms are supported?

Windows Server, Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL and Rocky Linux, plus VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, KVM and container platforms including managed Kubernetes.
